In 1947, after spending many years in a psychiatric hospital in Rodez where Artaud was many time shocked, he came to Paris and visited an exibition of Van Gogh. The sight of his paintings inspired him to write an article named " The society of the committed suicide" in which he accused the society, the painter 's brother and the painter 's doctor: Doctor Gachet to be responsible of the dead of the artist.
